Foodies Rejoice: Poki Yo Opens in Buena Park
With the Grand Opening of Poki Yo, the Buena Park food scene can now add fresh, California-style poke to its repertoire. The event drew families, peckish passersby, and camera-wielding food bloggers that created creating an energetic environment throughout the day.
Undeniably the latest food trend, poké bowls certainly possess more staying power than the cronut of 2013 because of their customizability and appeal to the health conscious Californian. Poki Yo’s menu offers delectable signature dishes like the Soy Fresh Mix, a tasty combo of tuna, salmon, fresh produce and a soy mustard sauce, as well as the Citrus Albacore, a refreshing mix of albacore, mango, veggies and a lime ponzu sauce. These bowls are expertly complimented by Poki Yo’s house-made drinks, like the cooling Mint Lemonade or the Green Tea Arnold Palmer.
Poki Yo’s BYOB (Build Your Own Bowl) option allows for more options such as gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, paleo and keto-friendly meals. In addition to six different fish and countless topping choices, diners are able to select a base of white rice, brown rice, kale or quinoa and can flavor their bowls with five different sauce selections. This is just one feature that sets Poki Yo apart from other poké spots where the sauces are typically premixed into the fish. Another notable distinction, is that Poki Yo does not charge extra for avocado.
